Story

Through continued research and innovation by Proto Colony and Omen, FOX was close to recreating Onyx Pilot's regenerating body. Research eventually leads to autonomous nanomachines that eat metal and form themselves into intelligent beings capable of self-replication. In order to observe nanomachine activity, a group of experimental nanobots was placed in a sealed container that served as a controlled environment. This vessel was called the Mechanical Biosphere System. As the days of Gaia passed, I noticed that the temperature of the vessel was slowly but continuously rising. When the surveillance probe was lowered into the box, the completed structure lay dormant, emitting extreme heat and flammable gases. The structure was soon named Corus.

After further research and refinement, a new family of nanomachines was created. It would later be deployed to a planet called MBS-02, Mechanical Biosphere System 02. The original container was eventually dumped on the planet, but by then it was treated as a mere means of disposal.

Knowledge of this structure spread beyond the Proto Colony research team and eventually became a legend.

"A being formed from the stars themselves and sealed beneath a mountain of metal."

Strategy notes

  • The Corus battle consists of two phases. In Phase 1, every attack releases a barrage of fireballs that scatter across the battlefield. It can also jump high and drop a large fireball that lingers after impact and creates a damaging pool.
  • When defeated, you will be enveloped in blue flames and enter Phase 2. During this phase, most of the fireballs released leave an additional pool of flame that covers the floor. Jumping attacks leave behind a pillar of flame that grows larger over time. Combined with pools, large portions of the battlefield become impassable, leaving little room to avoid onslaught when approaching.
